About OAES

The Omaha Area Emerald Society was chartered in January 1997 and its members are of Irish heritage and involved in Public Safety on the local, state, and federal level. We also have many wonderful associate members who although they are not employed in public safety, are Irish and support our objectives. The Omaha Area Emerald Society is a proud member of "National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies"

The Society sponsors an Omaha Area Emerald Society Annual Event fundraiser. Monies raised are given to worthy causes that are Irish, Irish-American, or Public Safety related, as voted on by the membership. The Omaha Area Emerald Society also marches in the annual St. Patrick's Day parade in Omaha, and in other events, as voted on by the membership.

The main objectives of the society are to uphold and defend the United States Constitution and all laws of the States to which its members have been sworn to protect and serve; to impart and preserve in its members the heritage of Irish history and culture; to increase inter-agency contacts, friendship and cooperation among their Irish-American members; to encourage fuller participation in the activities of organizations existing within their respective Public Safety Departments or agencies; to encourage members to fully familiarize themselves with the prescribed, authorized and accepted practices and procedures of Public Safety in order to serve their respective departments and agencies in a courteous, intelligent, and efficient manner; to engender exemplary deportment in its members, thereby creating and enhancing respect and goodwill for all Public Safety Departments and agencies in the Omaha area.
